Start with two music teachers, add one preacher, stir in a financial planner, and you could have the basic ingredients for any barbershop quartet.  But 3 Men & A Melody is not your basic quartet.  Tenor, Chris Droegemueller’s musical talents include arranging much of 3 Men & A Melody’s music to give them the special sound that best highlights their voices.  Eric Derks leads the foursome musically but admits that telling jokes is not his forte.  Brian Bellof is a second generation barbershop bass with a natural ability for showmanship.  Baritone, Brad Stephens is the out-of-control comic of the four who keeps 3 Men & A Melody’s audiences laughing.

3 Men & A Melody is a group that has been singing since 1991.  The present mix of voices has been together since 1995, and it was during that year that 3 Men & A Melody moved out of the ranks of Collegiate Competition.  Since that time due to many great coaches, patient families, and hours and hours of nose-to-the-grindstone work, 3 Men & A Melody became the Central States District Champion in 1998.  After making it to the International stage for the first time in 2001, and after the dust settled, they found themselves 17^th in the world of Barbershop quartets.  This was an absolutely inspirational time for this quartet and a turning point for them as well.  Then, for the following two years, 2002-2003, they were blessed to be one of the top 20 quartets in the world, and in 2004 they finished as a top 10 finalist quartet.  They feel so honored and blessed to have this opportunity to represent this awesome hobby of barbershop singing.

Out of their respect for music, these four gentlemen have always worked hard to do their best to sing all styles of music with integrity and excellence.  Their International Competition achievements have given them new confidence and a sense that others believe in them as well.  It is 3 Men & A Melody’s hope and prayer that as you listen to the songs they sing for you, be it barbershop or jazz, ballad or up beat, that you will hear and feel the love and respect that they have for music as well as the joy they have in performing it for you.  Depending on the song, may a smile come across your face or a tear roll down your cheek.
